Webinar: How to respond well to survivors of abuse
we have the opportunity of joining an online webinar looking at the experience of, and learning from, people who have been victims/survivors of abuse and our National Connexional Lead for victim and survivor engagement. The hope is that we can increase our knowledge to increase the impact we can make to support victims and survivors of abuse.
Monday 29 September, 7-8pm: How to respond well to survivors of abuse
It is estimated that up to 1 in 3 people will be subjected to some form of abuse within their lifetime. Have you ever worried about how you would speak to someone who has experienced abuse in case you made things worse by upsetting them? Members of the Methodist Survivors Advisory Group (people with lived experience of abuse) will share their advice on how we can respond better to the needs of victims and survivors. They will lead us in a thought-provoking session in which we will consider the language we use and our attitudes towards people subjected to abuse. The session will be interactive with plenty of time to ask any questions of those leading it.
