Applied Leadership Academy (ALA)
A message from the Connexional team
Dear Friends,
We are delighted to be able to share news of an apprenticeship initiative that we are able to offer in partnership with Multiverse. You may recall we were able to offer a similar opportunity back in 2023 which was taken up by a number of people across the Connexion and within the Connexional Team.
We are therefore writing to you to announce that we are launching the Applied Leadership Academy (ALA) in partnership with Multiverse - a set of practical apprenticeships designed to help ministers and lay employees across our churches grow in confidence, leadership and community impact as we live out Our Calling and seek to be a growing, inclusive, evangelistic and justice-seeking church.
Three pathways are available:
Project Management (Level 4): for those coordinating projects such as community outreach, events, or building works.
Transformative Leadership (Level 5): for experienced leaders seeking to lead inclusively, embrace new tools, and mentor others.
Management Jumpstart (Level 3): for aspiring or new managers looking to develop essential skills for leading teams.
What this means for the church:
People better equipped to lead local initiatives with clarity and confidence.
Leaders who can bring vision, communication, and organisation to their ministry.
A network of trained individuals who can share learning across our Connexion.
Please note that this programme is funded via the English Apprenticeship Levy. Learners must spend at least 50% of their working hours in England and work a minimum of 28 hours per week. Further details can be found here: https://support.multiverse.io/en/articles/93311-am-i-eligible-for-a-uk-apprenticeship.
Register your interest
Please take 60 seconds to complete this Registration of Interest form (RFI) https://platform.multiverse.io/prospect/skills-survey/761fcdc6-12a9-4931-b3f2-96dc4a0b8b28?company=the-methodist-church if you would like to learn more about the opportunity and participate in an information session.
We would also encourage you to arrange a conversation with your minister in oversight or line manager about the potential to be part of one of these apprenticeship programmes.
The deadline to complete the RFI is Friday 31 October 2025
We hope that this will provide opportunities for strengthening and building skills for a range of ministers and lay employees that will be useful in enhancing local mission and ministry, as we work with Multiverse in these three areas.
If you have any specific questions please contact our Multiverse representative Mitchell Pratt at: mitch.pratt@multiverse.io
