Practical Wisdom for Renewal
The Connexional Evangelism and Growth Team are excited to be welcoming missional theological the Revd Dr Elaine Heath to London on Tuesday 15 September for two special in-person events that we hope might be helpful for Methodist leaders and members. Elaine is really wonderful — bold and humble, visionary and practical, committed to theologically-rich missional action and the contemplative life.
Both events are free (the afternoon requires a booking fee that will be refunded after the event). The afternoon event is for leaders and key office holders; the evening event is for anyone interested.
Practical Wisdom for Leading Renewal, with Missional Theologian Elaine Heath

This event is for Methodist leaders and mission-minded people—both ordained and lay—including pioneers, pastors, stewards, lay leaders, children and family workers, evangelists, superintendents, and district chairs in the Methodist Church in Britain. If you're committed to helping the Church in the UK become more healing, hopeful, and outward-looking, we'd love to see you there. We’ll learn from Elaine’s rich experience as a theologian, professor, mission leader, community pioneer, farmer, and contemplative. She brings together deep biblical insight with wisdom from mysticism, psychology, and ecology—shaping a restorative, inclusive approach to mission, evangelism, and growth.
There will be facilitated small group work and Q&A sessions for learning focused on our particular contexts.

This event is for Methodists and Christians across Britain who want to see a more inclusive, life-giving way of being Church. Join theologian Elaine Heath for an inspiring evening on how the Church in the UK can become more healing, hopeful, and outward-looking today. Drawing on her experience as a community pioneer and spiritual guide, Elaine will share practical ideas for building a more compassionate and resilient Church. Together, we’ll explore how ancient Christian wisdom can shape modern life—how we lead, serve, and care for our communities, people, and the world around us. Elaine will also reflect on themes from the Gospel of John, offering fresh insight for today.
There will be time for small group conversations and an open Q&A, giving space to share ideas and explore next steps.
